The Business Information Technology program provides you with the knowledge needed to obtain an entry-level position in the business industry. You begin with an introductory course in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook, and an introduction to basic office procedures. In the second year you'll continue with an advanced Microsoft Office course. The second year also includes a course in Accounting and basic web design. In the third year students will use the computer and business skills they have acquired to complete business projects and office simulations. Students in the program are encouraged to participate in the MOUS Certification Program. This certifies the students as Microsoft Office User Specialists. During all three years, you will learn about possible career choices related to business technology and also other careers that might match their interests and abilities.

Nature of the Program: Computer operators work with and around other people in well-lighted, comfortable surroundings. Their jobs often involve sitting for long periods of time and they may be required to work with material that is difficult to read. Computer operators usually work a five-day 40-hour week with overtime sometimes required to meet specific deadlines.
Completion of the Program: Upon completion of the business information technology program, students should have the qualifications to obtain an entry-level position in business, industry, government, or financial institutions. They may be employed as administrative assistants or specialist; corresponding, legal, medical, educational and technical secretaries, or in related areas such as general office clerk, clerk-typist, word processors, and records management clerks. Experience and advanced education will affect salary and job opportunities. Advancement in the computer field requires continuous education.
