Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County
Computer Acceptable Use Policy
The Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County (CTC) strives to afford every student the ability to enhance his or her education through the use of computer technology. The ability to share resources and receive training via the local area network is only exceeded by the huge resource available on the Internet.
Access to this computer resource permits the availability of material that may not be considered to be of educational value in the context of the secondary school setting. On a global network it is impossible to totally control access to offensive materials and a user may therefore discover controversial information. The CTC firmly believes that the valuable information and interaction available on the Internet far outweighs the possibility that some users may procure inappropriate material that is not consistent with the education goals of the school.
The smooth operation of the Internet relies upon the proper conduct of the end users and their total adherence to strict guidelines. These guidelines are provided here so that all users are aware of their responsibilities. If a user violates any of these provisions, disciplinary action as well as CTC computer internet connection will be terminated immediately. Signing this document indicates that the end user has received a copy of the CTC Computer Acceptable Use Policy and acknowledges that all users are required to abide by its contents.

Any misrepresentation of user name, unauthorized copy or modification of files, unauthorized downloading or copying of files from the internet will result in cancellation of privileges and initiation of appropriate disciplinary action. Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm or destroy data of another user, or hardware or software associated with the computer system.
