Building Mechanics Trades
The Building Mechanics Trades program is designed to teach entry level, to advanced level skills, primarily in Carpentry, Plumbing & the Electrical trades. Basic Masonry skills are also a part of the curriculum in year three. Students identify, measure, cut, repair and install components relating to residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Students hands-on experience gives them a significant advantage in obtaining employment in today’s competitive job market.
The curriculum also includes architectural blueprint reading, job safety, job readiness, and job retention skills. Students gain valuable experience using hand & power tools common in the building construction industry. An important part of instruction includes classroom instruction and the use of related books, videos, manuals and catalogs.

M. C. a 2009 graduate of the Building Trades Program.
M.C. was accepted into the IBEW (Electrical Union) and has been working as an apprentice for the past four years, he has now advanced to become a Journeyman Electrician. In a few years he will become a Master Electrician. M. C. states “the discipline and skills I learned at the CTCLC helped me tremendously to focus on my career objectives.”

Justin was hired as a Co-op Student By Management Enterprises Inc. In Scranton , Pa. Justin was hired on a full-time basis upon graduating from The CTC. Justin is now the Job Supervisor, in control of major operations at his place of employment. Justin was featured on the cover of Happenings Magazine along with other successful young people who decided to stay in Northeastern Pa. instead of leaving the area to seek employment. Justin’s hiring supervisor, who was also a graduate of the Building Mechanics Trades Program credits his training at the CTC as a major contributing factor in Justin’s success.
