Ms. Mary Joan Lavelle
LPN Instructor
Mary Joan Lavelle received her Practical Nursing certificate from Lackawanna County Area-Vocational Technical School (presently CTCLC), ADN from Pennsylvania University, BSN from Misericordia University, and MSN from Marywood University. Mrs. Lavelle began her nursing career in 1984 as a LPN on the medical-surgical unit at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes- Barre, PA. After receiving her RN in 2001, she became a Critical Care Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA. Mrs. Lavelle joined CTCLC in 2007 as a part-time clinical instructor. Later that same year, she became a full-time instructor providing education to students in the classroom and in the clinical arena. Mrs. Lavelle has taught Nursing Skills I/II and Nutrition. She presently teaches Medical-Surgical Nursing and Nursing Skills III. Mrs. Lavelle’s career has come full circle- educating students at the school where she began her nursing education.
