    The Visual Art & Design program offers the creative or artistic student an opportunity to explore various art forms, mediums, and art-related career paths. Course units are designed to guide students through the fundamentals of drawing and design. Students will develop and refine their skills, explore color and painting techniques, and create graphic designs using traditional methods and computers.
     
    Visual Art & Design is based on the multi-faceted DBAE formula; a Discipline Based Art Education which integrates four disciplines: Art Production, Art History, Art Aesthetics, and Art Criticism in a comprehensive and sequential implementation. Projects and grading rubrics are based on the National Standards for the Visual Arts.

    Career Opportunities:
    Visual Artists generally fall into one of two categories: Graphic Designers or Illustrators. Students may begin working immediately as a Freelance artist or may look for work with various companies such as: Advertising Agencies, Graphic Design Studios, Desktop Publishing Firms, Signage Companies, Art Supply Sales, Matting and Framing Companies, Newspapers, Art Galleries or Museums.
