NOCTI
National Occupation Competency Testing
Senior students at the Career Technology Center participate in an end-of-year assessment called NOCTI. Each exam is specific to the instructional area students have been studying during their time at CTCLC.
Unlike other assessments, NOCTI has two components; a written and a performance evaluation. The performance evaluation allows students to display their competencies by completing tasks specific to their job areas. Evaluators are local leaders in labor and industry.
In order to prepare for the written exams, students participate in preliminary testing during the Fall of their senior year. This is called the Pre-NOCTI exam which is given in October. Results are used by instructors to highlight student growth, analyze data to identify individual and classroom strengths and gaps, support articulation agreements, and identify areas for additional professional development. Final NOCTI Exams begin in March of senior year.
