October Student of the Month: Sponsored by Fastenal  

Adrianna Olivares, a senior from West Scranton High School, has been nominated October Student of the Month by her Cybersecurity Instructor, Mr. Tom Czachor. “Adrianna has been ahead in class since she started, always doing well on tests, and tackling other assignments to put her skills to the test. She is always 

prepared for class and is willing to help classmates who may need help with certain tasks. She is a polite and well-mannered young lady who always has a smile on her face” stated Mr. Czachor. While in the Cybersecurity program, Adrianna has obtained her TestOut IT Fundamentals and PC Pro certifications. 

 

Adrianna is the daughter of Virginia Olivares. Adrianna has maintained high grades while at CTC currently holding a 97 average. She is a CTC Student Ambassador and a SkillsUSA competitor. “I chose to come to CTC because I knew it would be a great opportunity and give me an idea of what to do after high school. I have met so many great friends and even my teacher who has supported me through everything. Thank you Mr. Czachor”, stated Adrianna. 

 

At West Scranton, Adrianna has always made grades a priority and getting each assignment in time. She is a member of the Community Service Club and the Red Cross Club. She is very actively involved in each club she participates in. 

 

Upon graduation, Adrianna plans on attending Wilkes University as a Computer Science major.

Jacob Ferri, a North Pocono junior, has been nominated October Student of the Month by his Building Mechanics Instructor, Mr. Merle Gilpin. “Jacob is a model student and a very hard worker. He always goes above and beyond in the shop and classroom. Jacob is a huge help in the shop. Jacob has assisted in instructing students on tasks he has become proficient at and helps out with special projects and extra shop work whenever it comes up. He is super ambitious, reliable and dependable,  and eager to learn. I have had him work on many special projects in the shop because of his outstanding abilities. Very strong attention to detail and dedication to the craft. It has been a pleasure instructing him in this program”, stated Mr. Gilpin. While in the BMT program, Jacob has obtained his OSHA 10 certification. 

 

Jacob is the son of Jillian and Bernard Klocko. While at CTC, Jacob has participated in SkillsUSA for Carpentry. “I always saw CTC as an amazing opportunity for students interested in the workforce. Following my dad’s footsteps, I knew I wanted to do construction in some capacity”, stated Jacob when asked why he came to CTC. 

 

At North Pocono, Jacob has earned high honors over the past two years. In his spare time, Jacob enjoys hunting and riding dirt bikes. He also has a part-time job as a machine operator, processing and delivering firewood. 

 

Upon graduation, Jacob looks to enter the workforce.

Emilee Penny, a West Scranton Cyber senior, has been nominated October Student of the Month by her School Counselor, Mrs. Nicole Walsh. Emilee excels in her program area and demonstrates exceptional leadership skills in the classroom. A non-traditional student, Emilee has gracefully overcome barriers in the Automotive world. She has maintained a 92 average throughout her three years at CTC and currently is one of the top students in her class. She was recommended by her instructor, Mr. Ward, to enter into a cooperative education position at Scranton Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM based on her knowledge, ability and professionalism over the last few years in Automotive; she was also recommended for Skills USA two years in a row. Emilee handles every challenge or situation with a positive attitude and brings brightness to the classroom each and every day. Her eagerness to work on new projects is inspiring and many students turn to her for assistance with both theory and lab area work. Emilee overcame challenges regarding attendance last school year and advocated for herself to be considered for co-op placement this year, after being turned down last year. She worked hard to overcome those barriers and has shown growth through self-advocating.  I have seen her step out of her comfort zone and am so proud of her - she is a truly exceptional student and person. I know she will thrive and continue to impress in whatever she chooses to do after graduation”, stated Mrs. Walsh. While in Automotive, Emilee has obtained her OSHA 10 certification, All Data CAIS certification, Section 609 certification for Refrigerant Recycling and Recovery, Lifting It Right, and numerous Ford certifications. 

 

Emilee is the daughter of Stephen Penny and Lori Fox. “I came to CTC because I wanted to learn more about engines and how they work. I am also more of a hands-on learner so I figured this would be a good place for me”, stated Emilee.  While at CTC, Emilee has participated in SkillsUSA for Automotive Maintenance and will be competing in Automotive Service Technology. In her spare time, Emilee volunteers at Massacre Mansion every fall since she was in elementary school and helps maintain the property. 

 

Emilee has been accepted into the Diesel Technology Training program at Lincoln Tech and plans to explore entering the workforce right after graduation.
