March Student of the Month: Sponsored by Fastenal

Ryan Phillips, a senior from Forest City Regional High School, has been nominated March Student of the Month by his Carpentry Instructor, Mr. Shane Malicky. “Ryan has had tremendous perseverance and performance throughout the 2020-2021 school year. Ryan has missed minimal time and has overcome the struggles of bouncing back and forth from hybrid to virtual instruction. He continues to thrive in the Carpentry program despite the difficulties presented to him throughout the pandemic. Ryan always has a positive attitude and is always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needs some encouragement or help with carpentry work”, stated Mr. Malicky.  While in the Carpentry program, Ryan has obtained his OSHA10 safety certification in construction, multiple ladder safety certifications and is currently working towards his OSHA30 safety certification.

During his time at CTCLC, Ryan has helped with various community service projects such as the Forest City Rail Trail signage, and also helped with the construction of produce stands for the Lackawanna County Department of Human Services Area Agency on Aging. Ryan currently works at a Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in his hometown. He enjoys playing video games, board games, and playing with his dog and cat.

Upon graduation, Ryan plans to learn the trade of welding while serving his country. Ryan has enlisted in the Navy. After serving, he would like to own an apartment building.
