Lauren Posluszny, a senior from North Pocono High School, has been nominated February Student of the Month by her Protective Services Instructor, Mr. Jonathan Coyne. “Lauren is a great leader in the program and is an individual who can overcome challenges. Lauren has very good time management skills that aid in her success in the program. She is working with her fellow classmates on preparing for the SkillsUSA State competition in Crime Scene Investigation ”, stated Mr. Coyne. While in the Protective Services program, Lauren has completed her ICS 100, and 200. She also has her First Aid/BALS, OSHA 10, HAZWHOPER 24 along with PPBI and PATH.
Lauren is the daughter of Dave and Maureen Posluszny. Lauren states she came to CTCLC to get ready for her career. “I want to go into a career in law enforcement &* I thought the opportunity to attend this class would be a great introduction into the field as well as many other careers related to law enforcement”, says Lauren.
At North Pocono, Lauren is very active. She is a member of the Varsity Cross Country team, Marching Units, Varsity Basketball Cheer, and Varsity Track & Field, and is a member of the Student Council. She is a member of the National Honor Society and also the student CTC liaison at the North Pocono School board meetings. At CTCLC, she is a SkillsUSA competitor and a Student Ambassador.
After graduation, Lauren plans to continue in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Following graduation from basic training in the Army and completion of her school job, Military Police, she will attend the University of Scranton to major in Criminal Justice.

Diamond O’Dowd, a senior from Carbondale Area High School, has been nominated February Student of the Month by her Digital Communications Design Instructor, Mr. Paul Georgetti “Diamond is having an exceptional Senior year. She won first place in the Scranton Fringe Festival poster competition and has also shown work at the NEPA Horror Fest and a First Friday event in Scranton. Diamond is currently working on a rebranding of The Ritz Foundation. She is always pushing herself to learn and has excellent participation in class. Diamond is also a member of the Yearbook/Photography Club at Carbondale and notably helps contribute to the banner on the school webpage. She is very considerate, has a positive attitude, and is a great role model for others. Diamond has participated in SkillsUSA in the Photography competition as a junior and will head to the State competition this year as a senior. She orchestrated student IDs for the Cosmetology program by taking headshots of all the students and designing their ID cards. She is also managing the photographs for each program as we update the instructor shadowboxes ”, stated Mr. Georgetti. While in the Digital Communications Design program, Diamond has maintained an A average and will begin Co-Op experience with CTC in Marketing and Design.
Diamond is the daughter of Christina and William O’Dowd. “I chose CTC not knowing what I wanted to do. I wanted to do something new and it became one of the best decisions I ever made”, stated Diamond. At Carbondale Area, she is a varsity cheer captain for football and basketball, is on the high honor roll, and is a member of the library and drama club.
After graduation, Diamond plans to attend Wilkes University to study business and open her own photography business that also has a tie to digital design.

Emily Haberstroh, a senior from Mid Valley High School, has been nominated February Student of the Month by her Health Occupations Instructor, Mrs. Jaclyn Chesnick. “Emily is a pleasure to have in class. She is academically diligent, shows leadership qualities, and has excellent time management skills. Emily works two part-time jobs but consistently maintains academic excellence. She is always attentive in class, actively participates, and has a knack for assisting her school and classmates to reach proficiency in performing their hands-on skills. Emily does all of this while always maintaining a calm, collected manner which is a trait I am certain will make her an excellent healthcare provider one day. While in the Patient Care Technician program, Emily has completed her OSHA10, Mandated Reporting, and CPR and is anticipated to sit for her PCT Certification in the spring. Emily is always ahead of all her classmates in getting signed off on skills and always completes all assignments as soon as possible. She is often noted to be studying for her certifications on her own time once all other tasks are completed”, stated Mrs. Chesnick.
Emily is the daughter of Dawn Haberstroh. “As a freshman learning about CTC, I was already certain that I wanted to pursue nursing. I learned from CTC that it might be my first step toward achieving this goal. I knew I’d learn a lot more here about my future than I would at my home school”, states Emily.
At CTC, Emily is a dedicated Student Ambassador and recently competed in the SkillsUSA district competition in Medical Terminology where she brought home silver. At Mid Valley, Emily currently has a 3.68 GPA and has received the Empower scholarship. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Mountain View care center.
After graduation, Emily plans to attend Wilkes University for her Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
