Mr. John Moran

Smart Systems and Engineering Technology

Mr. Moran, an accomplished educator in Smart Systems and Engineering Technology, has been teaching since 2016. A proud alumnus of Riverside High School and the Drafting and Design Technology program at CTC (Class of 2007), he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Keystone College (2011) and a Master’s in Education (M.Ed.), specializing in Workforce Education and Development, from Penn State University (2023). Mr. Moran also earned a Career and Technical Instructional II certification from Penn State (2024), a Career and Technical Instructional I certification from Temple University (2017), a CISCO Academy Instructor certification (2019), and a PDE Gifted Student Endorsement Certificate from Seneca Highlands IU in partnership with Neumann University (2021).

Before transitioning to education, Mr. Moran worked in the IT industry as a Technical Analyst at First National Community Bank, an Enrollment Data & Communications Manager at Keystone College, and an IT Professional at Abington Heights School District.

In addition to his teaching role at CTC, Mr. Moran is an adjunct instructor at Penn State Scranton, where he teaches cybersecurity and networking courses, including Cyberdefense and Network Security. He is a dedicated advocate for Career and Technical Education (CTE), contributing to statewide curriculum committees and co-founding a professional learning network for CTE Computer educators. As an experienced presenter, Mr. Moran frequently speaks on gamification in education and enjoys role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. His commitment to education and student success is reflected in his extensive experience, qualifications, and passion for hands-on learning.
